Representative McKeel was elected to the Florida Legislature in 2006, in the seat previously occupied by Dennis Ross. Representative McKeel is a graduate of the University of Florida and a small business leader in Florida. A fifth generation Polk County citizen, Representative McKeel was recently elected Deputy Majority Leader in the Florida House of Representatives.

Hillsborough County Commissioner Mark Sharpe endorsed Dennis very early in the race. Commissioner Sharpe is a known advocate for smarter and smaller government. Never to be outworked, Commissioner Sharpe is returned to the Commission overwhelmingly every election. Prior to his election, he served eight years as an active-duty officer in the U.S. Navy. He retired after two decades of service, which included 12 years in the U.S. Naval Reserves.

Hillsborough County Commissioner Al Higginbotham is a dear friend to Dennis Ross and a proven tax cutter and small government conservative. He, along with his fellow Commissioners, have reduced property taxes and kept the budget in check for 14 years in a row. Commissioner Higginbotham remains today a staunch advocate for persons with disabilities, agricultural issues and faith-based causes.
