Government Health Care, Unchecked Immigration, and Cap & Tax Washington DC Labor Unions Finance Lori Edwards Campaign

Lakeland, FL – Today, the Dennis Ross for Congress campaign announced it’s 1st quarter 2010 fundraising results. From January through March, the Dennis Ross campaign raised $164,682 and has $364,000 cash on hand. Most importantly, the Ross campaign added 164 new in-district donations, bringing the number of total in-district donors to almost 1,200.

Upon the release of the numbers, Dennis Ross said, “To start off the election year with such incredible success shows how unified Conservatives, Republicans, Independents and many Democrats are behind this campaign. Everywhere I go, people want their government back and are demanding leaders who will not join Washington, but rather, will change Washington. Leaders who have not made a career out of government or want to go to Congress simply to expand the federal government. In a time of double digit unemployment and an administration that continues to stifle job growth, to have my fellow citizens respond to our message like this is overwhelming and energizing.”

Further demonstrating Dennis Ross’ grassroots support is the addition of 164 in district donors in the 1st quarter of 2010 alone. All told, the Ross campaign has generated over 1,200 in district donors. In addition, Dennis Ross has filed 5,017 verified petitions to be placed on the ballot and is the only candidate to qualify by petition. By contrast, Lori Edwards and Doug Tudor will both have to pay nearly $11,000 if they want to qualify for the ballot. Lastly, on April 15th, Dennis Ross addressed, for the second time, the Lakeland Tea Party, attended by thousands of grassroots activists of all political parties.

Campaign Manager, Fred Piccolo, commented on the Democrat challengers shocking fundraising reports by saying, “Doug Tudor continues to ignore his obligations under the law and has not filed a financial report since July of 2009, although press reports indicate he has raised $27,000 this quarter. What is most interesting though is that until the last two days of this quarter, Doug Tudor and Lori Edwards had both raised about $30,000. It wasn’t until two days before the quarter was up, that Big Washington DC Labor Unions funneled over $38,500 to Lori Edwards. Being bought and paid for by Obama’s big labor cronies won’t sit well with hard working folks in District 12, who have to pinch pennies rather than being bailed out. The same people buying Lori Edwards are the same people demanding government run health care, cap and tax, and unchecked immigration. It is obvious from Lori Edwards’ inability to raise any money from within District 12 and Doug Tudor’s inability to follow the law, that neither Democrat represents the values of Central Florida.”

Between 3/29 & 3/31, Lori Edwards received the following donations:

UNITED FOOD & COMMERCIAL WORKER INTL UNION – $5,000
    TRANSPORT WORKERS UNION – $5,000
    MACHINISTS UNION - $5,000
INTL UNION OF BRICKLAYERS & ALLIED CRAFTSMAN – $1,000
INTERNATIONAL BROTHERHOOD OF ELECTRICAL WORKERS - $5,000
INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FIRE FIGHTERS – $2,500
    AMERICAN FEDERATION OF TEACHERS, AFL-CIO – $5,000
AMERICAN POSTAL WORKERS UNION COMMITTEE – $1,000
AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES – $3,000
    AMALGAMATED TRANSIT UNION – $1,000

    and…

AMERICAN ASSOCIATION FOR JUSTICE (Formerly the Association of Trial Lawyers of America) – $5,000

Total Amount from DC/NY Big Labor Unions & Trial Lawyers – $38,500

Biographical Information – Dennis Ross was born and raised in Lakeland. He has been married to his wife, Cindy, for 26 years, and they have two sons, Shane and Travis. Dennis Ross’ campaign has been endorsed by Congressman Adam Putnam, Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, Congressman Eric Cantor, Congressman Mike Pence, Polk and Hillsborough County Commissioners, State Representatives and Senators from Polk, Hillsborough and Osceola Counties, and now, over 5,000 petition signing citizens of District 12.
