According to data from the Supervisors of Elections in Hillsborough and Polk Counties, Dennis Ross will be the ONLY candidate in Congressional District 12 to demonstrate serious grassroots support and energy and qualify by petition.Upon hearing the numbers, Dennis Ross said, “It is because of the hard work and dedication of so many, that we have achieved this first of many successes. The theme of this campaign has been about offering solutions that empower citizens to make choices rather than empower government. While many of our opponents talk about being for the people, our grassroots support – from petitions, to donors, to endorsements – demonstrate where the people stand. They stand against statism, socialized medicine, nanny state government, and an ideology that rewards irresponsibility and punishes success. They stand for free people, in free markets, choosing freely for themselves. They stand with us and I am honored to stand with them.”In total, the Ross campaign has almost 5,000 certified petitions in both Hillsborough, Polk, and Osceola Counties, with several hundred remaining to be counted. Under the law, a candidate must have submitted 4,578 valid petitions by Monday, March 29th, to qualify. If a candidate fails to submit the necessary number of petitions, he or she will only be able to qualify by paying a nearly $11,000 qualification fee.Dennis Ross was born and raised in Lakeland.
