Lakeland – Former State Representative, Dennis Ross, today officially announced his intention to run for Congress in Florida’s District 12 seat. Upon making his candidacy official, Ross said,

“It is truly a humbling moment to take this step and receive the kind of encouragement and support I have received. I believe the voters are hungry for leaders who will not only speak of the principles we share, but will act and vote on those principles as well. Principles like, rewarding hard work and fair play, encouraging family values, and reminding Washington that it works for us, not the other way around. Today is the first step in a long journey. I call on my colleagues and friends in the Republican Party to join this campaign and together, we can start this much needed work today.”

Ross concluded, “I would be remiss if I did not thank Congressman Putnam for his service. Adam leaves big shoes to fill and a record of accomplishment I hope to build upon. I wish him the best in the future and look forward to working with him in the coming years to make our great State, the very best it can be.”

Immediately following the announcement, many leaders from around the state rallied to endorse Dennis’ run.

Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush said,

“I am pleased to endorse my friend, Dennis Ross, for Congress. In a time when far too many politicians go along to get along, Dennis is not afraid to take a stand or make tough decisions, regardless of the consequences. Dennis will remain true to our conservative principles in Washington, just as he has in Tallahassee. His record as a reformer is needed now more than ever. I encourage all of the voters of District 12 – Republican, Democrat, or Independent – to send Dennis to Congress.”

In addition to Governor Bush, Former Congressman Andy Ireland offered his endorsement by saying,

“I know this District, having represented much of it in Congress. Dennis’ core values and hometown common sense will be an asset in Congress and a perfect fit for the voters. Dennis’ reputation as an affable, intelligent, and principled conservative will enable him to work across the aisle when necessary and stand his ground when called for. I am pleased to endorse Dennis for Congress and look forward to his election.”

On top of Gov. Bush and Congressman Ireland, two former Florida House Speakers, Former Congressman Tom Feeney and Allan Bense, also endorsed Dennis today.

In Washington, current members from Florida – Congressman Connie Mack, Congresswoman Ginny Brown-Waite, Congressman Gus Bilirakis, and Congressman Jeff Miller offered their support and endorsement as well.

In addition to national support, Dennis has received overwhelming support locally, including key endorsements from Paul Senft, GOP National Committeeman for Florida, Jean Burt, the matriarch of the Republican Party in Polk County, Gene Roberts, the Chair of the Polk County GOP, the Rev. Lynne Breidenbach, and Linda Ivell, the President of the Florida Federated Republican Women.
