ROSS SIGNS “NO NEW TAXES” PLEDGE AND SIGNALS HIS INTENT TO BE A BUDGET HAWK Ross Builds on his Reputation as a Free Market Fiscal Conservative
Lakeland – Candidate for Congress from District 12 and former State Representative, Dennis Ross, today signed the “No New Taxes” Pledge from the Americans for Tax Reform. Today’s action was intended to send a message to the voters that Dennis will continue to act as a guardian of their hard earned dollars in Washington, as he did in Tallahassee. Upon signing, Dennis said,“I firmly believe that Washington does not have a revenue problem, they have a spending problem. Anticompetitive measures and lax oversight has led to rising costs and fraud. This pledge is merely the first step toward implementing real reforms in how we spend tax dollars. From a balanced budget amendment to the line item veto, Washington, like an addict, needs restraints put on it, and soon.”
Dennis continued, “I have built a business, met a payroll, and seen what taxes and government manipulation of the markets can do to consumers. In a time of crisis change must come, but the right change. We must never mistake movement for progress or rhetoric for real change.”
Dennis’ pledge reads:
I ,____________, pledge to the taxpayers of the _____ district of the State of _________ and to the American People that I will:
ONE, oppose any and all efforts to increase the marginal income tax rates for individuals and/or businesses; and
TWO, oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits, unless matched dollar for dollar by further reducing tax rates.
